Janet came from a construction family, so she was comfortable with concrete, tile and hammers from an early age.  Her artistic side led her to pursue a career as a fashion designer, but life took her into an entirely different direction - Finance – in which she spent over 22 years. During that time, her pursuit of the arts had to remain a hobby. In 1994 on her first visit to St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, Italy, she saw the ancient mosaics and a love-affair with the artform began. “I felt I had discovered a medium to capture the color of light, and through the creation of my art, send the light into the minds and hearts of others.” From 1994 to 2005, Janet visited and studied mosaics passionately. Experimenting in the basics of mosaics on her own, she chose Maestro Luciana Notturni, of Ravenna, Italy, for her instruction in the ancient techniques. In 2006, Janet started “Janet’s Angels & Mosaics” to showcase her works, and spread a special light through her mosaics.      

Each piece of art is signed by the Artist with the letter "J" and a Millefiori worked into the background or border of the art, an example of which you see at the upper right hand corner of this website.
